Representing the American car-buying consumers, the 11th annual Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards recognizes automakers’ outstanding achievements in the ability to create and maintain brand attributes.

Second Consecutive Win for Mazda from Kelley Blue Book

Kelly Blue Book (KBB) announced its list of winning automotive manufacturers, and for the second consecutive year Mazda is named the Best Performance Brand winner.

“Building familiarity and loyalty among car shoppers has never been more important to automakers, especially as the market is flooded with all-new and redesigned models competing for market share,” said Hwei-Lin Oetken, director of strategic insights for Kelley Blue Book.

The win comes shortly after Mazda was named Best Car Brand in America for the fourth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report.

How Kelley Blue Book Determines a Winner

To determine the Brand Image Award winner, it takes more than an online poll among those who are willing to participate.

The 2019 Brand Image Awards are determined by consumer perception data collected by the Kelley Blue Book Strategic Insights Brand Watch.

The Kelley Blue Book Strategic Insights Brand Watch is KBB’s online brand and model perception tracking study which taps into more than 12,000 in-market new vehicle shoppers researching and making purchasing decisions through the official KBB website.

“Compelling product and marketing communications continues to influence purchase consideration. This year’s winners have attracted car shoppers based on many attributes that are important to consumers and motivate them toward their ultimate purchase decision,” Oetken continued to say of the awards.

The study provides insights as to what factors new car buyers are considering while making their purchasing decision.

Also captured in the study is brand and model familiarity as well as brand loyalty among new car shoppers.
