2020 Mazda CX-30: Cabin Designed for the Driver in Mind
No matter the length of the journey, whether it’s to the grocery store or a cross-country road trip, your comfort is just as important as how the vehicle functions.
A great design can foster a higher quality experience.
Which is why Mazda takes the extra step for its drivers, especially when it comes to the new 2020 CX-30.
Rather than simply getting drivers from Point A to Point B, Mazda strives to offer a better experience every time drivers get behind the wheel.
So, how does Mazda make the CX-30 cabin more enjoyable than its competitors?
Quiet Cabin Design
After determining what sounds we perceived to be a nuisance, the Mazda design team knew it wasn’t enough to simply make the cabin appear comfortable and quiet.
To provide drivers and passengers alike with the best experience, one of the most important tasks for Mazda’s design team was to create a quiet, peaceful space.
Ideally, an environment in which the driver can naturally focus on the road, while the passengers can relax and have a clear conversation. Eliminating sounds from the road and other distractions outside the vehicle can help create a more peaceful ride.
To make this possible, Mazda engineers rethought nearly every aspect of their design for the 2020 CX-30.
The cabin has been constructed with a two-layer wall structure, incorporating an insulating layer to further hinder unwanted sound.
Consideration was even given to the floor mats and tires. They were carefully selected for their ability to reduce spikes in road noise caused by various forms of pavement.
A Spacious Cabin
Time and time again automotive manufacturers have forgotten to create a vehicle that is not just comfortable for the driver, but the passengers too.
The 2020 Mazda CX-30 cabin comfortably seats four adults and even the longest drives feel like a breeze.
Careful attention was given to the front and rear seats to help ensure an optimal distance is between the occupants. There’s nothing worse than feeling cramped and confined throughout the drive.
And, despite the size difference, drivers will be happy to know the 2020 CX-30 has the same distance between passengers as the larger profile Mazda CX-5.
The increased space between seats allows the driver and front passenger to have a conversation with a passenger in the second row, check on a child, and sit in comfort.
Further defining the space inside the new CX-30 is a wide center console and armrests, creating even more elbow room for the driver and passengers.
Refined Audio System
Further reducing distracting noises is the new Mazda Harmonic Acoustics sound system.
So, how does the updated technology work?
The side speakers in CX-30 were moved from their traditional location in the doors forward to the footwells. This small, but major, change helps eliminate a major source of road noise and vibration.
Repositioning the speakers allows for optimal sound playback and transmission to the human ear, while reducing sounds outside of the vehicle.
This change balances out the audio while increasing the dynamic bass range and enhancing mid-range sound clarity to create an immersive quality and clarity.
Adding the audio system to the other creature comforts in the CX-30, passengers can relax, enjoy the ride, and hold engaging conversations.
At the same time, drivers can converse safely and effortlessly while maintaining focus on the road ahead.
