Updates to 2021 Mazda CX-5 Infotainment System

November 22nd, 2021 by

Year after year, Mazda manufactures a model lineup capable of capturing the attention of the masses.

So it comes as no surprise that the infotainment updates found in the 2021 Mazda CX-5 have surpassed expectations.

At 10.25 inches wide, the full-color display is the largest infotainment display Mazda has produced thus far — and a vast upgrade from the previous 7.25-inch screen found in the CX-5.

From the enlarged dashtop screen, the new interface, and the Mazda Connect™ upgrades, consumers who opt for one of the seven trim levels available to the 2021 CX-5 can explore the open road like never before.

Mazda Connect™ 2021 Upgrades

The new version of Mazda Connect™ found in the 2021 CX-5 operates seamlessly thanks to the improvements made across all aspects of the brand-exclusive infotainment system.

Enlarged Infotainment Display

The new 10.25-inch display is standard across each of the CX-5 trim levels, helping to improve the driver’s experience in several ways.

The increased monitor display and high-definition resolution offers an enhanced visual clarity. The updated technology also allows for a split screen option — meaning drivers no longer have to switch between maps and music.

Other information that can be accessed on the enlarged display include:

  • Fuel Efficiency: The monitor in the new Mazda CX-5 keeps track of the gas tank and analyzes how driving style and terrain affect the vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
  • Status Monitor: This monitor informs the driver on upcoming or required maintenance checks — such as oil changes, that are needed to keep the vehicle in pristine condition.
  • Owner’s Manual: Drivers can learn everything there is to know about the 2021 CX-5 through this guide. And owners no longer need to worry about misplacing the manual, as it can be accessed through the infotainment center.

Updated Firmware Improves Features

The updated firmware, known as 74.00.230A, includes a redesigned interface that addresses the technological issues found in the previous CX-5 infotainment system, such as slowness and connectivity problems.

As soon as the engine is engaged, the infotainment system will display the monitor or menu option last used. Drivers can pick up where they left off rather than having to scroll to a desired feature.

The new interface is more intuitive, responsive, and faster. Menus and layouts can be accessed with fewer controls and commands, making for a simpler, user-friendly experience.

Setting up smartphone integration through either Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™ now just takes seconds as opposed to minutes.

With these upgrades to the Mazda Connect™ 2021 interface, drivers can stay connected to everything they need and love.

Advanced Navigation

Consumers who choose a 2021 Mazda CX-5 can navigate the roads with ease thanks to the enhanced visibility provided by the 10.25-inch display and the new, 3D gyroscope sensor.

The 3D gyroscope sensor acts as a more accurate global positioning system (GPS).

It constructs a detailed blueprint of the area so drivers can clearly see where they are and where they’re going — even on a busy highway.

And the two highest trim levels of the CX-5 — the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature, come with the available Active Driving Display.

This advanced navigational feature projects directions directly on the windshield, turning the path ahead into a real-life map — allowing the driver to stay focused on the road.

Enhanced Audio

While the visual aspects of the CX-5’s 2021 Mazda Connect™ are impressive, the quality in audio is equally notable.

Drivers will find the automatic level control (ALC) feature in each trim level of the 2021 model. This technology adjusts the volume and sound quality according to the speed of the vehicle.

As the compact crossover SUV increases in speed, the volume will increase and vice versa, creating a superior audial experience for its listeners.

Additional audio capabilities are available depending on the trim level. The audio systems for each of the 2021 Mazda CX-5 trim levels are as follows:

  • Sport: Four-speaker audio system
  • Touring: Six-speaker audio system
  • Carbon Edition: Bose® 10-speaker surround sound system
  • Carbon Edition Turbo: Bose® 10-speaker surround sound system
  • Grand Touring: Bose® 10-speaker surround sound system
  • Grand Touring Reserve: Bose® 10-speaker surround sound system
  • Signature: Bose® 10-speaker surround sound system

The Mazda CX-5 trim levels that come complete with the Bose® audio system offer AudioPilot — a noise compensation technology that tailors the audio settings to offset the disruptions created from background noise and acceleration.

At the same time Centerpoint, which is another Bose® audio system feature, distributes sound more evenly and with greater precision. This provides drivers with an ideal listening experience that makes driving the 2021 Mazda CX-5 even more enjoyable.

Safer Command Control & Technology

Rather than resort to a touchscreen control system like their competitors, Mazda chose to retain the Multifunction Commander Control.

Placed at the center of the driving console, drivers only need to turn the rotary knob to access the suite of entertainment technology outfitting the 2021 compact crossover SUV.

Not only does the rotary knob make scrolling through contacts and playlists easier, but it also lets the driver keep their attention on the road while operating the infotainment center.

Additionally, drivers can use the improved built-in voice command, which lets them choose between Mazda’s artificial intelligence system or that of their smartphone.

Apple users, for instance, can opt to have Siri as the primary responder to their commands.

Adding to the driver-centered command controls within each trim is the suite of i-Activsense® technology, including Lane Departure Warning with Lane-Keep Assist, Smart City Brake Support, and Blind Spot Monitoring.

Paired with the new CX-5’s emergency assistance call capability, which uses a connected mobile device to automatically call 911 if the vehicle is involved in a collision, Mazda consumers can drive with confidence and peace of mind.
