The 2020 Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV gets performance enhancements and increased safety features to the already-best-selling Mazda vehicle of 2019 in its latest version.

After receiving a full redesign for the 2017 model year, the 2020 CX-5 has pulled inspiration from the larger Mazda SUV — the CX-9  and it shows.

Drivers can expect a brand-new grille, new headlights and taillights, and a longer hood than previous years. These updates make the 2020 model year one that is highly anticipated among drivers.

2020 Mazda CX-5 Performance

An updated option for the new CX-5 is a 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D twin-turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine. This will be a significant improvement to the compact SUV’s fuel economy, which means owners can drive longer between fill-ups.

An engine of this size and performance will produce 168 horsepower and 290 pounds-per-feet of torque.

Updates made to the new engine will encourage cleaner fuel emissions compared to previous model years. The improved fuel economy means more time spent on the road and less time at the pumps. It also means drivers can still enjoy the power and stability of a crossover while minimizing their carbon footprint.

Also available in the new CX-5 is the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that offers 187 horsepower and 186 pounds-per-feet of torque.
